About Guizhou’s tea
“High altitude, low latitude, long period of clouds and mist, short time of sunshine ” form Guizhou perfect natural environment for tea growth.
Guizhou is a mountainous province with average altitude of 1100 meters.
It is generally accepted that southwest China is the birthplace of tea. In 1980 tea seed fossils aged over 1million years were found in Guizhou.
Now Guizhou has a total tea planting area of more than 466,000 hectares. This makes Guizhou the largest tea growing province in China.
There is a wide variety of teas in Guizhou. The famous ones include: Duyun Maojian, Meitan Cuiya, Guiding Clouds and mist, Leishan Silverball, Zunyi Hong, etc.
Duyun Maojian green tea is one of the top 10 famous Chinese teas. It’s also called "Fishhook tea" because the dried leaves are curled like fishhook. There are lots of tiny hairs suspending in the tea liquid when brewing.That brings you special delicate umami flavor because the hairs contain high content of amino acid.
