About Guizhou’s tea

Guizhou province is located in southwest China.It is surrounded by Yunnan province, Sichuan province and Hunan province. All of them are famous tea growing area. “High altitude, low latitude, long period of clouds and mist, short time of sunshine ” form Guizhou perfect natural environment for tea growth. Guizhou is a mountainous province with average altitude of 1100 meters. It is generally accepted that southwest China is the birthplace of tea. In 1980 tea seed fossils aged over 1million years were found in Guizhou.  Now Guizhou has a total tea planting area of more than 466,000 hectares. This makes Guizhou the largest tea growing province in China. There is a wide variety of teas in Guizhou. The famous ones include: Duyun Maojian, Meitan Cuiya, Guiding Clouds and mist, Leishan Silverball, Zunyi Hong, etc. Duyun Maojian green tea is one of the top 10 famous Chinese teas. Meitan Cuiya green tea

Meitan is a county located in the north of mountainous Guizhou province.Cuiya means emerald green buds in Chinese. Guizhou province is located on Yunnan-Guizhou plateau in Southwest China.  Meitan Cuiya is a National Geographic indication product of China. Meitan Cuiya  is considered as the most beautiful green tea for the buds standing upright in the liquor when brewed. It looks like they are gracefully dancing in the water, absolutely stunning. Meitan Cuiya has a flat and smooth appearance, evenly in shape, resembling sunflower seeds. The liquor is bright and clear with yellowish-green color. The taste is sweet and mellow with a hint of roasted chestnut flavor.

ZunYi Black Tea

  Zunyi is a city, located in the northern part of Guizhou province. Tea Saint Lu Yu (733–804AD) said in his book “The Classic of Tea ” that Bozhou tea tastes excellent. Bozhou is now Zunyi city. The cultivation of tea in Zunyi region dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907AD), making it one of the oldest tea-producing areas in China. Zunyi city, with an altitude of 800–1300m, is characterized by a humid subtropical climate. The soil in this region is rich in nutrients and minerals, which contribute to the unique flavor profile of Zunyi black tea. Zunyi black tea is produced with traditional methods. The dried leaves are long and slender, with some golden hairs . It tastes sweet, mellow with hints of  fruit .

Duyun Maojian Green Tea

Duyun is a city located in the south of mountainous Guizhou province.Maojian means hairy buds as the tea buds are covered with tiny white hairs. Duyun Maojian is one of the top 10 famous Chinese teas. Guizhou province is located on Yunnan-Guizhou plateau in southwest China. Now Guizhou owns the largest tea growing area among all China’s provinces."High  altitude,   low latitude, long time of clouds and mists, short time of sunshine" form Guizhou perfect natural environment for tea growth.It is generally accepted that southwest China is the birthplace of tea.  Duyun Maojian is also called "fishhook tea" because the dry leaves are curled like fishhook.There are lots of tiny hairs suspending in the tea liquid when brewing.That brings you special delicate flavor because the hairs contain high content of amino acid.
